The State is committed to protecting your privacy. We understand and appreciate that users of the website are concerned about their privacy and the confidentiality and security of any content submitted to the moderator.

The State has established a privacy regime for the Queensland public sector based on 11 Information Privacy Principles. These are contained in an Information Standard (Information Standard 42) that agencies are required to adhere to.

-Protecting your personal information is important

The State understands the importance you attach to the information that identifies you (your ‘personal information’) and wants to help you protect it.

Personal information includes your name, address, phone number, email address, your organisation and your position in the organisation.

We seek to ensure that you will be confident that your personal information will only be used by us in the ways described below and that it will be held securely. This privacy statement describes how we collect information when you interact with us online and what we do with that information.

-Information collected

If you submit content to the moderator, you will be required to provide the following information:
(a) First name and last name and
(b) E-mail address (which must be able to be verified).

The provision of these details will enable the moderator to contact you about your response, if necessary.

The State will not display personal or sensitive information about a contributor on the Website.

-Cookies

Cookies may be used on the website for the sole purpose of allowing an authorised user to carry information across different pages. Cookies are not used to track or identify users for any other purpose.

When you visit the website, our web server makes a record of your visit and logs the following information for statistical purposes only:
(a) your server address;
(b) your top level domain name (for example, com, .gov, .au and so on);
(c) the date and time of your visit to the site;
(d) the pages accessed and documents downloaded;
(e) the previous site visited; and
(f) the type of browser used.

No attempt is or will be made to identify users or their browsing activities, except in the unlikely event of an investigation, where a law enforcement agency may exercise a warrant to inspect activity logs.

-Access to personal information

The State will not add your name, address or your email address to a mailing list, nor will we disclose these details to third parties without your consent, unless required by law.

All content will be given to the moderator for consideration for display on the website. The moderator may also use your personal information to contact you about your content if this is required.

Email messages may be monitored by authorised IT staff for purposes such as system troubleshooting and maintenance.

-Updating your personal information

The personal information collected by the website which is required to be current is your name and email address. Your email address is needed in order to notify you after your content has been considered by the moderator, and to notify you when the State requires information or comment from you.

-Email correspondence

As this is a State website, email correspondence sent to the website will be treated as a public record and will be retained as required by the Public Records Act 2002 and other relevant regulations.

-Changes to our privacy statement

This information relates to our current privacy standards. We may vary our privacy standards from time to time. We will notify you of these changes by publishing them on the website – we will not separately notify you of these changes.
